The Andes
58 years of missionary presence indicates a long road traveled, a history written daily, living and celebrating the process of faith undertaken, walking together: people, Church, and community, enlightened by the Word, strengthened by the Spirit, in the spirituality of Dominic de Guzman and organized charity of Marie Poussepin. In January 1965, the first three sisters from the Province of Medellín arrived in Charagua, Bolivia, and in June of the same year, another three arrived in Juliaca, Peru. The dynamism of the mission led to the establishment of two regions several years later: one in Pe-ru and another in Bolivia. On October 14, 1983, after 18 years of missionary presence, with 87 sisters, three of whom from Bolivia and five from Peru, the Vice-Province of Los Andes was born; it was constituted as a Province on January 22, 1995 to live and proclaim Jesus Christ.
The reality today of this part of the Congregation, in Peru and Bolivia is a challenge that poses us to remain firm in hope, giving witness to communion with the strength of our Charism wherever the Church calls us and our brothers and sisters need us.
