Capítulo General 2024

La Grande Bretèche (Tours), 07/26/2024, Sr. Gemma Morató i Sendra and Sr. Conchi García Fernández - www.domipresen.com.- As we have already shared, the 56th General Chapter has elected Hna. Mariamma Paul Ollukaran as the new Superior General. This is great news for the entire Congregation; let us thank the Lord.

The day began with the Eucharist to the Holy Spirit, although it was the feast of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, it was fitting to entrust ourselves to the third person of the Trinity. And then, at 9 a.m., with everyone situated in the chapel in community order, the election ritual began with the required solemnity, both for the place and the act itself. The photos and video of the before and after express the moment lived better than words.

Sr. Mariamma Paul Ollukaran was born in India on October 2, 1959, professed on May 31, 1985, and took perpetual vows on September 23, 1990. She has been on the general council for the last ten years, and before that she was novice mistress in India, school mistress and also local superior, vice-provincial and provincial in India. She holds a degree in Religious Sciences and a master's in English Literature. She speaks Spanish, French, English, and Italian, among other languages.

When asked about the challenges of the Congregation when preparing the website, she highlighted some that will surely expand now from the perspective of the Superior General:

Living fidelity to the spirit of Marie Poussepin centered on the Word, while at the same time contemplating our world.

Finding appropriate and creative responses to offer dignity and freedom to our brothers and sisters who suffer in today's deeply wounded world.

The afternoon was dedicated to the tractatus for the counselors with a preliminary reflection that we have been discussing for days on what kind of government we desire. Tomorrow, God willing, we will have the complete government, and on Sunday, we will celebrate with the sisters of the house and nearby communities.

And at night, we met with the sisters of the house to watch the opening of the Paris Olympic Games on the big screen, and how we enjoyed applauding each country in which the Congregation is present.
