La Grande Bretèche (Tours), 08/05/2024, Sr. Gemma Morató i Sendra and Sr. Conchi García Fernández - www.domipresen.com.- The Eucharist puts us in tune with the Word and the work that awaits us. The presiding Dominican, Fr. Christian-Marie Donney, affirms that we must take care of the heritage and memories...

It is necessary, he emphasizes, that we take care of the family’s heritage, the Congregation's heritage, as well as the memories, following the Word of God which says, “Do this in memory of me”.

In the chapter hall, the agenda is presented to us and one acte is approved. Then, Sisters Maria Escayola and Joanna Fernandes present the “Charismatic Plan of the Congregation” which consists of two parts: 1) Economic Vision of the Congregation and 2) The Service of Charity.

Sister Maria Escayola explains that the 55th General Chapter left the task of drafting the “Charismatic Plan” and, at the last CGA, the work done was analyzed. Moreover, considering the recommendations of the Dicastery, it was seen that it was necessary to do it from an economic perspective.

For her part, Sister Joanna Fernandes explains that expressing the economic vision of Marie Poussepin is not easy, it is a process that must evolve, but Charism and economy must go hand in hand. The document given to us is a first step, an attempt to express how we want to be witnesses today and what missions we want to have today, centered on Jesus Christ. How do we contribute to the community with our work? What is our option for the poor, the responsibility for material goods and natural resources, organized charity, among others?

We also have time to work in committees and then we share the introduction of the chapter text.

In the afternoon, after invoking the spirit with the song “Ruah, ruah” by Ain Karem, we proceed to approve the texts of all the committees. We finish with the reading and approval of another acte.

Tomorrow, a bit more.

And we continued asking the sisters how they would define this chapter with a single word.
