Dominicas de la Presentación - Capítulo General 2019

La Turena, Bucaramanga (Colombia), 07/13/2019, Sr. Rosario Garcés del Castillo.- With our morning prayer, prepared by the General Government, we began this day of the official opening of the 55th General Chapter.

Presided over by the Word of God and the logo of the Chapter, we left the chapel of the Holy Trinity in procession to the Chapter room, singing, “we are a people on a journey”. The Veni Creator was sung upon arrival. We were ready to listen to the opening words of Sr. María Escayola Coris, Superior General, who presented the General Chapter as a space for life, discernment, and communion, space to promote, update and make the Charism grow, space for formation, participation, renewal, mutual understanding and knowledge of the Congregation.

The solemn celebration of the Eucharist to the Holy Spirit was presided over by two bishops: Monsignor Jaime Cristóbal Abril González, Diocesan Administrator of the Diocese of Nueva Pamplona and Monsignor Camilo Fernando Castrellón Pizano S.D.B, Bishop of Barrancabermeja. Several priests, the Sisters of the neighboring communities and friends, also accompanied us.

Then we had a moment of joyful fraternal sharing with all the participants as we enjoyed some Colombian songs performed by the Sisters of the choir of the Province of Bucaramanga. In the afternoon the presentation of the structures began with the Vice Provinces of Aconcagua and Africa. It is incredible to see how in two different geographical contexts the same Gospel is proclaimed, through the same Dominican Charism of Blessed Marie Poussepin. We finished this day, with a meaningful prayer, in which we were invited to allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit on this “capitular” journey accompanied each week by different "friends": new fire, new water, new air and new earth.
