Roma (Italy), 06/26/2018, Sr. Blanca Aurora Marín Hoyos.- In Rome, the General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life met, from June 25 to 26, 2018. Some sisters of the general government participated.

The assembly began with an audience with Pope Francis in the Clementine Hall of the Apostolic Palace in which he expressed his desire that the global vision of bioethics, which specialists prepare to relaunch in the field of social ethics and planetary humanism, move "from the deep conviction of the irrevocable dignity of the human person".

In this line, the Pope emphasized the dignity of each person, in each stage of life and condition of their existence, "in the search for forms of love and care with which their vulnerability and fragility should be treated". This global bioethics will be a specific way to develop the perspective of integral ecology that is emblematic of the encyclical Laudato Si. During the meeting, it was reflected on: Global bioethics and justice; from the Gospel of life to Laudato Si; birth and economic inequalities; pregnancy and neonatal health; evolution of prenatal diagnosis techniques and their ethical, economic and political challenges, among others.

Great challenges that compromise science, culture, economy, the Church and our Congregation and show us the need of formation in this field that helps us to always opt for the good of the person in an integral and global context.
