Dighton (United States), 06/02/2023, Sr. Karen Champagne.- With great joy, hope and expectation on May 8th, the sisters of the Vice Provincial Community as well as the Community of Dourdan welcomed Sr. Maria Escayola Coris, Superior General and General Councilors, Sr. Mariamma Paul Ollukaran, Sr. Diana Gisela Dolorita and Sr. Martha Mendieta to Dighton for the canonical visit to our Vice Province. The following day May 9th the visit officially began and on May 10th, Sr. Maria and Councilors started their visit to the Communities both near and far. The Sisters were eager and enthusiastic to have the opportunity to speak with Sr. Maria and the Councilors in order to share and express their concerns, fears, and the reality of their life and mission in the Vice Province.
As Sr. Maria expressed, this visit was an occasion to “share and search together, walking a synodal journey, focusing on the orientations and tasks that the 55th General Chapter of 2019 has entrusted us.” The Sisters were eager to embrace this with openness and hope. We shared our life in all its simplicity and richness; we are few in number, however, we continue to answer the call of the Church and the Congregation wherever we are called to serve according to the charism of our Foundress, Blessed Marie Poussepin. Sr. Maria and Councilors shared the life of the Sisters and Communities, and the Sisters, knowing that all we have and are, is a gift from the Lord. Sr. Joanna Fernandes and Sr. Ana Patricia arrived later to begin the Canonical visit to the Treasurers Office and the Secretariat.
We can only express our gratitude to the Lord and Sr. Maria Escayola and the Sisters of the General Government for their support, availability and recommendations to all our Sisters and Communities. We also pray to our Lady of the Presentation that we may continue responding to whatever the Lord is asking of us at this time.
