Encountering Marie Poussepin
In the Church, all the baptized are called to holiness (LG 39).
Holiness is the very identity of the Christian faith; the saints show the possibility of living Christianity in history and reveal the truth and goodness of following Christ. It is the imitation of Christ and conformity to Him; its content is a life given in loving communion with God and generous charity towards one’s neighbor.
Moreover, holiness is the fruit of personal freedom and openness to God’s grace. It is manifested through external signs such as heroic virtue, martyrdom, reputation for holiness and signs, and miracles. These signs are the focus of the beatification and canonization processes.
With regard to our foundress, Marie Poussepin, her journey began on June 18, 1923, when the Sacred Congregation for the Causes of Saints issued the decree to introduce the cause for her beatification and canonization, signed by Pius XI on the 27th of the same month (Marie Poussepin, Positio super virtutibus, Information, Histoire de la cause, p. XVII).
Thanks to the General Superiors and the Sisters of the Congregation who have worked tirelessly to make known the goodness and holiness of Marie Poussepin, today, throughout the vast geography of the Congregation and in many other places reached through social media, her reputation for holiness, deep charity, and unshakable trust in Providence is well known. At this moment, only one miracle is needed for her canonization. And a miracle is possible—if we truly desire it and ask with faith.
