My Experience in the Presentation Youth Network

A journey of faith, friendship, and commitment that has transformed me as a young person and as a Christian

Receive a fraternal greeting and embrace of peace, joy, and hope, dear Sisters,

From RomeFrom RomeI am writing to you today from Rome, where I am experiencing the Jubilee for Youth and proudly carrying the flag and love for the Presentation Youth Network (PYN).

My name is Milthon Valdivieso, I am a young Colombian from Barbosa, Santander, and I have had the grace of walking with you for more than ten years through the youth ministry of the former province of Bucaramanga — now Our Lady of the Presentation. Since 2023, I have been part of the coordination team of the PYN.

I’m a university student, and in the Network, I’ve found a way to continue serving God without abandoning my studies. Sharing virtual and in-person encounters with other young people and with the sisters — who live and transmit the Presentation charism from different places and languages around the world — is a constant source of motivation, hope, and joy for me, and a sign of our Father’s immense love.

The Eucharists, the Rosary, adoration moments, catechesis, and formation sessions allow us to discover, through each one’s experience, the living presence of Jesus and the urgent need to understand a world where being young is not easy. There are many challenges, and in the midst of them, Christ calls us to be salt and light for the Earth.

Learning from you the virtues and qualities of our mother Marie Poussepin and embodying them in our lives as young people is not just something for school or parish time: it is a lifelong service. It continues at university, at work, in the family...

The Network allows us to walk together, and on that path, the center is always Jesus. I say this with certainty: when one finishes school or is no longer close to the sisters in their parish, the PYN becomes a bridge of connection and unity — it accompanies, opens opportunities, and enriches the whole Presentation family, crossing borders through diversity.

I thank God for the grace of having met you, of walking alongside you and so many young people who, with faith and joy, serve with love and enthusiasm. I entrust to God the whole Community of the Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Presentation, their various missions in the world, and the Presentation Youth Network, a dream that is slowly becoming a reality.

From this Jubilee for Youth, let us ask the Holy Spirit to continue pushing us to grow, to be a support for you and a sign of hope for the world.

With affection and gratitude, Milthon Valdivieso

With Young People

The Youth Network Presentación (RJP) is a synodal initiative born from the 55th General Chapter (2019). Its purpose is to respond to the current reality of young people, shifting from a pastoral approach "for" youth to a pastoral approach "with" youth. It seeks to energize, accompany, and strengthen actions of participation, communion, formation, and youth leadership, promoting both diversity and unity in the evangelizing mission.

Through listening and collaborative work, a synodal ecclesial mindset is fostered, faithful to the Church's call: "to walk together" as a way of living and serving the faith in this wounded time.

Mission

The mission of RJP is a commitment by the Congregation to evangelization, with a dynamic and constantly evolving character. It aims to be recognized by young people as a space for encounter—with others and with the person of Jesus Christ—encouraging them to contribute to building a more humane social fabric.

Vision

RJP seeks to become a coordinating body for initiatives and projects that work with youth in the missionary presences linked to the Congregation, fostering experiences of encounter, spiritual life, holistic formation, cultural expression, and missionary commitment with social and ecclesial meaning.

Mission Axes

  • Spirituality: Accompaniment and listening to young people in their life processes, vocational discernment, and faith experiences through camps, retreats, gatherings, and other context-based activities. The goal is to foster a sense of community and a Presentación youth identity.
  • Youth Pathways: Presentación Leadership School and comprehensive formation in human, psychological, spiritual, ecclesial, and charismatic dimensions. Support for youth communities and Vocational Ministry.
  • Integral Ecology: Promotion of interculturality, artistic and cultural expressions, and care for the environment from a holistic perspective.
  • Charitable Service: Mission activities, volunteering, and social action projects that embody a spirit of service and solidarity.
