Bagdad (Iraq), 01/10/2018, Srs. of Middle East.- The Canonical Visit of the General Government to our Vice Province starting November 26 to December 19, 2017, was held by our Superior General, Sr. Maria Escayola Coris and our General Counselor, Sr. Diana Gisela Dolorita.
Their arrival took place at night during the feast of Christ the King. The time of Advent followed, during which the Church deeply lives the hope and joy of the coming of the Savior, a time of reconciliation and of peace, in which each one is also engaged in it through vigilance, the need of conversion and the preparation of the heart. Thus, the canonical visit also re-enforced the hope and joy in our entity.
In spite of our small numbers... the visit extended over three countries, starting by Jordan, then Iraq and Lebanon. The General Government took sufficient time for each community and for meeting with each individual sister, in great simplicity, closeness and understanding, in a time of exchanges and of communion. In a similar way were carried out the visits to each of the ministries as well as the meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio of Iraq and Jordan and with the various ecclesiastical authorities.
The orientations given during this visit were centered on the choices as consecrated women, to rethink our religious life, to consolidate our faith, our hope and our personal relation with God, nourished daily by God’s Word, so as to be able to witness of this God who lives in us.
To widen the knowledge of our countries, Sisters Maria and Diana enjoyed the visit of three historic settlements, Petra, Babylon, Byblos in Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon, as well as, other smaller visits. Our heartfelt thanks to the Sisters of the General Government, for the time they have granted us to be together in joy and fraternity, in these places of our life and of our mission.
