Manizales (Colombia), 12/31/2022, Media Team.- With sentiments of gratitude, on December 15, the Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin celebrated 90 years of service to health care at the Presentation Clinic in Manizales, city of open doors.
Present were sisters from the provincial community and from some communities of Cali and Manizales, people from the city who were invited and the administrative staff, clinical care and support. The celebration began with the Eucharist presided over by Monsignor José Miguel Gómez Rodriguez, Archbishop of Manizales.
In the greeting addressed to the Assembly by H. Martha Lucía Andrade Morales, Provincial Superior, she highlighted the love that the citizens of Manizales and the staff who works at the clinic have for her, among those present, Dr. Luis Evelio García, scientific and administrative director, who spared no efforts for the good of the institution.
He thanked the Sisters of the clinic and particularly Sr. Nelsy Francisca Rodríguez Ríos, who today is in charge of the management, the generous dedication to the sick and their careful interest of her, as Marie Poussepin says, not only to relieve her body but her soul.
"They will not be content with giving bodily assistance, they will try, if possible, to be more useful to the soul of the sick than to the relief of the body”. R.G.
Dr. Luis Evelio in his words recounts the history of the clinic during these 90 years, noting that he has lived moments of glory, but also difficult times in which the sisters as fundamental columns, due to their faith, hope and generosity to take care of life in all its forms, have succeeded and moved forward.
Sr. Nelsy Francisca, for her part, thanks God for having given the Congregation the opportunity to provide this service in the field of health for 90 years and invites continue providing this service, each time with greater human quality and with the awareness that this work of the Congregation is also the work of the Church.
