Amman (Jordan), 09/07/2023, Sr. Aliya Hikmat Korkees, Viceprovince Delegate JPIC.- Amman Italian Hospital, where we have been working since 2007, has developed medical services provided to patients by introducing medical developments that did not exist before. As the management of the hospital, we have contracted with the Jordanian Association Operation Smile, which carried out its free medical campaign to treat cases of cleft lip, cleft palate and burns, which was held in March 2023..

Over 50 people have had the opportunity to undergo life-changing surgeries, including all age groups. The surgeries were performed in the presence of specialized medical staff made up of volunteers from Jordan and several countries around the world, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and pediatricians.

The Ministry of Health appreciated the positive role played by the Italian Hospital and the Smile Society in its medical campaign, carrying out operations for those who deserve it, which reinforces the humanitarian role and the real partnership to improve the medical sector. Anxious to modernize plastic surgery and restoration services for the vault of the mouth and cleft lip, and to provide medical and nursing specialties to operate on patients, the ministry supports the partnership that the associations have with public sector hospitals and private, the association's partnership and cooperation with the Italian hospital to organize periodic medical campaigns that offer free surgical treatment.

The cooperation with the Italian hospital has achieved the hospital's goals for every patient to receive safe surgery and comprehensive health care in a timely manner. The operations were carried out by a volunteer medical team, including specialists in plastic and reconstructive surgery, anesthesia, and a number of nurses from Jordan and several countries.

The number of patients was around 194 patients of different nationalities: Jordanian, Syrian, Palestinian, Libyan, Yemeni, and Sudanese. Among them, 58 patients were operated. The medical executives of the Italian hospital and the nuns worked with the volunteer executives of the association in the service of the patient's health.

Marie Poussepin's project in the care of destitute patients continues in the spirituality of her daughters wherever they work: “Do service to the sick with great testimonies of charity, and without showing any disgust ...” General Rules.

The hospital will cooperate in the future with any association that comes forward to help the patient, working according to the command of the Lord Jesus: "Amen, I tell you: every time you didn't do it to one of these little ones, you didn't do it to me." (Matthew 25/40).

“Be merciful as your Father is merciful”. (Luke 6/36).
