Venezuela, 06/11/2017, Sr. Nícida.- The experience we are living during these days of protests, where the repression is getting worse every day, there is also a desire of fighting for a free Venezuela from the Venezuelans. This is part of our daily life. Faced with this reality, I contemplate and I ask myself: Is Venezuela a question of Justice and Peace? Because many opponents and government officials go out for you, they shout for you, they organize for you...
Some people go out hoping to see a Venezuela in solidarity, fraternity, forgiveness and reconciliation between brothers and sisters. They are all moved by hope and fraternity. Others go out to find what kind of contribution they can give along the way. They are ready to offer help and a caring hand in this fight. They want to serve others, even if they risk their lives to give more life, help and to be attentive to their brothers and sisters... And others are conditioned and full of resentment and frustration. These are the ones that hurt the country. They are the ones who say that love of neighbor is not worth. From their mouth only come out words of death.
In these demonstrations I contemplate also religious men and women, priests, lay people and diverse people of our Venezuelan Church ... Then I think and I wonder, which horizon I come from to accompany my brothers and sisters? We can do many good things but if they are not moved by hope, solidarity, reconciliation and forgiveness it will be like plowing in the sea... There is something we must do, loving each other even if I consider them my enemies. Like this I would not hurt them. Muslims say when you kill a brother, you are killing humanity, and the blood of a brother cries out from the depth of the earth. His cry reaches God and resounds in our ears: "I have heard the pain of my people, I have seen his sufferings.” This outcry of God embraces all the Venezuelans.
From God’s horizon, in which we become his children and also brothers and sisters between us, we have no choice. Our option will be our brothers and sisters! They are not just nice words; it is a question of Justice and Peace! God bless you.
