Tegucigalpa (Honduras), 01/04/2018, Sr. Marta Inés Toro.- December 31st, 2017 has certainly been a day of rejoicing and thanksgiving for our Vice Province as Sister Sindi Araceli Bardales Pérez, our first Honduran novice, made her first profession in her home parish of Las Casitas in Tegucigalpa.
The Congregation has been in Honduras since 2001 with a presence in Guaimaca and for almost four years in Las Casitas. It is here where Sr. Sindi Araceli grew, initially accompanying her mother to different parish activities, and then she herself became actively involved in the parish where she met our sisters when they arrived.
Sr. Sindi Araceli had her last few months of preparation in Dighton with Sr. Marina Mejía. Despite the present political situation in Honduras, Sr. Vimala Vadakumpadan, Vice Provincial Superior, Sr. Sindi Araceli and Sr. Mónica Teresa García, Councilor, were able to travel to Tegucigalpa for this historical moment of grace. All of us ministering in Honduras also gathered to celebrate together.
Fr. Ricardo Alvarado, who presided the Eucharist was the priest from whom Sr. Sindi Araceli received for the first time the sacraments of reconciliation and communion. Sr. Sindi Araceli’s family and the members of different parish groups participated actively in the celebration.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude and hope as we experience new life among us.
