Los Andes: 50 years educating in the faith and the love of Christ in Holy cross parish school

Lima (Peru), 09/05/2017, Sr. Amira Parra Ardila.- 50 years ago in the port of Callao, Lima-Perú, by initiative of the Marianists Brothers, was born and institution with the only goal of offering a Catholic Education. It started functioning as an elementary school for boys, Holy Cross School, in 1967. Father Charles Labus was the first director and Father Patrick Mc. Cannon, its promotor.

After having passed through various administrations and expansion of services, on January 4, 1993, the Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Presentation of Mary, assumed responsibility for the direction of the school. Sr. Amira Parra Ardila, at the time, vice-provincial of “Los Andes”, appointed Sr. Bárbara Inés Carrasco Correa as director. Since then, the Congregation has offered a service focused on formation in values with methods on person-centered education, applying the principles and strategies of individualized learning and practicing the teachings and advices of MARIE POUSSEPIN, foundress of the Congregation. Sr. Carmen Alicia Botero Correa, actual school director, accompanied of other sisters, continues a laudable work of administration and of pastoral pedagogical orientation..

During 50 years this isntitution has moved with firm strides towards its only aim: to form youth that will help our society to buid a better country. This 50-year travel was rewarded with the educational accreditation from the Consortium of Educational Catholic Centers of Peru and of the CNEP (National Confederation of Private Schools) from Mexico. The above accreditation commits us even more, into working towards a greater quality of education, based on values rooted in the Gospel and in the pedagogy of Marie Poussepin.
