Report on JPIC General Assembly

11/29/2025, JPIC.- The JPIC General Assembly of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation was held online on 29 November 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, gathering General Government, JPIC General Coordinator, Provincial/Vice-Provincial Delegates/ Commissions, Language Working Groups, all sisters, laity and formees across the world.

The meeting was moderated by Sr. Anula Suguna- General Councillor. The session began with the technical instructions by Sr. Martha Mendieta- General Councillor. It opened with prayer by Sr. Sandra Segovia of Vice Province of Aconcagua and a message of welcome from Sr. Jacintha Gracy Miranda- International JPIC Coordinator, who expressed gratitude for each sister’s dedication to Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation.

Then Sr. Mariamma Paul Ollukaran, our Prioress General delivered the keynote address, emphasizing compassion, justice, and the Church’s preferential option for the poor. She reminded us that caring for the marginalized and caring for creation are inseparable from the Gospel and our Dominican mission.

Provincial JPIC delegates presented reports that showed encouraging growth and renewed commitment worldwide. The Spanish-speaking group highlighted progress in integral ecology, youth involvement, ethical use of technology, collaborative formation and Solidarity projects initiatives. The English–French group shared significant efforts across Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines–Southeast Asia, and India. Sisters in these regions continue to serve vulnerable families, educate youth, empower women, and organize creative community-based ecological and peace initiatives.

Sr. Julienne of the Vice Province of Africa presented the strengthening partnership with Dominican Sisters International Confederation (DSIC), emphasizing global collaboration. Meanwhile, Sr. Elsa Myriam reported on our inter-congregational networking in Latin America with Good Shepherd International Foundation (GSIF) with UISG, to share resources, experience, and joint action against common injustices.

A key moment of the assembly was the presentation of the JPIC Strategic Plan 2026, rooted in JPIC congregational project on 7 priorities based on 7 LS Goals, General Chapter Document, our Charism and Dominican spirituality. The plan clarifies roles at all structural levels, reinforces teamwork, highlights formation opportunities, and promotes improved documentation and communication.

A new JPIC Communication Plan was also launched to enhance visibility and ensure that stories, photos, and reflections from all regions reach the wider Congregation through shared platforms — especially on the 14th of each month by Sr. Irayda of Province of Medellin, who is the coordinator of the JPIC communication team, who will work closely with the General Communication Commission.

The assembly concluded with heartfelt appreciation to all sisters who contribute to JPIC ministry, whether through direct social involvement or through prayer and encouragement. The final prayer by Sr. Nayibe of the Province of Bogota, sent everyone forth with renewed hope and commitment to building peace, justice, and an integral relationship with all creation.

Let us continue to walk together - contemplative, courageous, and compassionate - in the service of God’s people and our common home.
