Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), 01/10/2026, Sr Nathalie Sawadogo.- In an atmosphere of faith, gratitude, and hope, the Dassasgho community experienced a deeply meaningful and significant moment on January 3, 2026, during the missionary sending of Sister Clémentine, from Burkina Faso, and Sister Esperance, from Congo, who have been called to take part in a new foundation in Accra, Ghana, as well as Sister Nadège Peggy, who has been sent to Congo to assume the responsibility of legal representative in that country, while faithfully continuing her role as counselor within the Vice-Province of Africa.
This deeply prayerful Eucharistic celebration became the setting for a true ecclesial and community act. Through prayer, the Word of God, and the offering of our lives, the Church recognized and confirmed the missionary call of these sisters, sent not by mere human decision, but in obedience to the will of God and to the dynamism of our Dominican charism. The symbolic gesture of presenting baobab seeds to each sister powerfully marked this sending forth. The baobab, an emblematic tree of resilience, longevity, and fruitfulness, embodies the inner strength required for any mission lived in a foreign land. Its seeds, capable of enduring time and the harshest conditions before germinating, express the firmness, perseverance, and vitality demanded by the mission entrusted to our sisters. This symbol reminds us that even in the unknown, the roots of faith, fraternity, and hope remain strong. Sister Clémentine KABORÉ and Sister Esperance carry with them the richness of cultural diversity and the courage to begin, in a new country, a work called to grow humbly yet steadily. Their mission in Accra is part of a dynamic of foundation, sowing, and apostolic patience, where each daily gesture becomes a proclamation of the Gospel.
As for Sister Nadège Peggy, her sending to Congo testifies to the renewed trust of the community in her sense of responsibility, spirit of service, and human and spiritual maturity. By assuming this mission while remaining a counselor of the Vice-Province, she becomes a living link at the service of communion and fidelity to the mission.
Like baobab seeds entrusted to the soil, our sisters are called to take root elsewhere in order to endure, bear fruit, and bring forth life wherever they are sent. We entrust their mission to the grace of God, under the protection of Our Lady and the intercession of Saint Dominic, so that their commitment may be a source of hope for the people they will serve.
