At the Italian Hospital of Amman

Amman (Jordan), 05/02/2026, Sr. Rajni Indwar. – “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”.

The Way – Jesus as Path and Access

Jesus declares Himself “the Way,” meaning He is the only access to the Father. Although the idea of “the way” was present in Jewish thought (for example, the way of righteousness or obedience to the Law), it finds its fullest realization in Christ. The Greek word hodos (“path” or “journey”) emphasizes that Jesus is not merely a bridge to the destination; He Himself is the means by which the journey begins, continues, and ultimately reaches its fulfillment in eternal life, in communion with God. Toward this we walk in faith.

The Truth – Jesus as the full revelation of God’s Word

The Greek word aletheia in John’s Gospel refers to truth as divine reality revealed in thought, word, and action. It is not an abstract idea but the very reality of God, fully revealed in and through Christ. For those who follow the Way, this truth becomes their spiritual foundation and guiding principle.

The Word of God is “Spirit and Life”

Peter proclaims in John 6:68: “You have the words of eternal life.” Jesus Himself says, “The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life” (John 6:63). His truth is not merely moral teaching; it is life-giving and transformative, essential for all who journey toward the Kingdom of Heaven.
Today, looking around us, we see how easily the way is lost and how difficult it seems to find a truth strong enough to sustain hope for a better future.

At the Italian Hospital of Amman, we serve Iraqi and Syrian refugees, as well as people from several African countries; migrant workers from the Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and India; and economically disadvantaged Jordanians.
The difficult economic situation leaves many families in precarious living conditions, especially when elderly or sick members (physically or psychologically ill) are present. Some cases even involve a total lack of basic livelihood.

In response to this confused world, we have begun a small outreach project to accompany Christian families and share with them the knowledge of Christ, the source of all: Way, Truth, and Life. We seek to bring clarity, purpose, and healing to broken hearts and wounded relationships—just as our Foundress, Blessed Marie Poussepin, desired.
We visit families, learn about their needs, and try to help through generous people around us. When we encounter unemployed individuals willing to work, we connect them with those who can guide them and offer job opportunities.

We also participate in parish spiritual activities: catechism on Fridays, preparation of adults for the sacraments, a monthly Healing Eucharistic Adoration (in English) on the first Friday, and visits to the sick and elderly on the third Friday.

Each Wednesday we join Eucharistic Adoration and the Rosary with the Sisters of Mother Teresa in Ashrafia, at the Armenian Catholic Church near the hospital, where many poor Christians live, mainly emigrants from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and some Jordanian families.
