Lima (Perú), 05/17/2017, Sr. Patricia Avendaño Álvarez.- The Pilgrimage of the Relics of Saint Rose of Lima, in the months of July through October, is one of the activities which the Dominican Family has organized in Perú as part of the celebration of the 400 Year-Jubilee of her death.

A delegation will accompany the moving of the relics to their destination. A friar and at least two lay assitants will consistently scort the transfer through the three regions of Perú where friars, sisters of apostolic life or cloister nuns of the Order will be present. On May 5, in a press conference, the Prior Provincial of the Province of San Juan Bautista del Perú, friar Juan José Salaverry Villarreal, O.P., officially presented the jubilee activities planned by the Order and also the unedited documents from the provincial archives. Oher activities also planed are liturgical celebrations, cultural events and conferences as spaces of formation. The main celebration will take place on August 24, at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Lima.

For us, the sisters of the Province of Los Andes, this Jubilee Year represents a moment of grace which leads us to appreciate anew, the figure of Saint Rose, not only as the first Peruvian Saint, but also as a woman in today’s society and her vocation of service. With much joy we get ready to receive her into our communities.
