Los Andes: The work at St. Joseph's Hospital in El Callao

El Callao (Peru), 06/04/2016, Sr. Luz Maribel Burgos Ugaz.- Sr. Maribel, coordinator of the Sanitary Prevention and control center for Tuberculosis of St. Joseph’s Hospital in El Callao, works with a multidisciplinary team integrated by a neurologist, a nurse, a psychiatrist, a social worker, a dietitian, a pharmacist and several technical nursing personnel. I am convinced that to preserve the health of those persons affected by TBC is a must. They have to be treated in a humanitary way. To learn from their experiences is for me a great richness, because these vulnerable persons often suffer also from social exclusion.

Caritas Jordan, Italian Hospital Amman (Dominican Sisters of Presentation) sign agreement with Ministry of Social Development

Amman (Jordan), 05/18/2016, Sr. Vinitha.- The Ministry of Social Development Jordan signed a contract of cooperation agreement on Tuesday 17 may, 2016 with Caritas Jordan and Italian Hospital Amman and the Jordanian Women Solitary Institute, Whose head is Asma Khader. Present at the ceremony was Minister of Social Development, H.E Reem Abu Hassan.

Preaching Justice

Roma (Italia), 05/14/2016, General Government.- "Preaching Justice. Volume II. Contributions of Dominican Sisters to Social Ethics in the Twentieth Century." Is the title of the book that was presented on May 13, 2016 at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, in the celebration of the eighth centenary of the confirmation of the Order. The book, published in English, presents 22 articles of different experiences of Dominican Sisters in 26 countries. This second volume is a continuation of one already presented on the experience of preaching justice of the Friars in 2007. Our Congregation participated in this effort through Srs. Beatriz Alicia and Maria Leonor Charria Angulo; the title of their article is: "The Dominican Charism lived with and from the perspective of the poor. Where there is life, there is still hope!" It is in the section E, named: "Building a new vision."

India: Poussepin Any Time Help (PATH)

Bangalore (India), 04/26/2015.- Poussepin Any Time Help (PATH) is a new missionary project of the Province of India to actualize the call to “be like the merciful Father”. ‘Dourdan’ in Bangalore, India, opened its doors to the elderly and differently-abled in the home of late Mr.&Mrs. Albert Royan who dreamed for their house to become an abode of service for the poor and needy.

8th General Assembly of the Dominican Sisters International (DSI)

Roma (Italia), 05/06/2016, Sr. María Escayola.- From April 28th to May 5th 2016, representatives from 89 out of the 123 Dominican Congregations which form part of DSI are gathered together in Rome. They have come from all over the world to renew their family ties, to work and discern together and to move forward in collaboration for the sake of our mission.
 

Africa: “Where ever there are consecrated people, there is joy”

Koudougou (Burkina Faso), 02/0!/2016, Sisters Honorine Guigma and Béatrice Kantoro.- The closing of the year of Consecrated Life took place at Koungoudou, city of the red Knights, at the Cathedral Parish on January 28 and 30, 2015. The subject was "Year of Consecrated Life: Challenges from Pope Francis to the Consecrated in the context of Burkina Faso - Nigeria". The theme was taken from the letter of Pope Francis to all the Consecrated on the occasion of the year of consecrated life : "Remember the past with gratitude, live the present with passion, embrace the future with hope".

Meeting of Secretaries

Roma (Italia), 05/02/2016, Sr. Gemma Morató.- From April 28 to May 5 the meeting of Secretaries from the Structures of Africa, USA, France, India , Middle East and the general secretariat team took place at Roma accompanied by Fr. Toxe, general procurartor of the Order, and Sr. Monique Colrat. Several aspects of the secretariat in the light of Canon Law and other texts helped us to have a broader knowledge to the diverse present situations.

Medellin: Accompanying the youth

Medellín (Colombia), 03/15/2016, Sr. Magnolia Sánchez Valencia.- During the months of February and March, we began the ministry with the youth in our educational Institutions. The Principles and those directly in charge of the youth groups helped us. They are well motivated for the work planned for the year.

Ecuator suffered the consequences of an earthquake with 7.8 degrees

Quito (Equator), 04/19/2016, Sister from the Community of Quito.- The Sisters from Equator: situated in the Province of Machala: Community of San Cristóbal -Cuenca, Ponce Enríquez and Quito, Province of Pichincha, are grateful to God the Father of all goodness who in His great mercy, in spite of the earth tremor and great shock, protected us from any loss or pain due to the earthquake that took place on April 16, 2016 at 06:58 PM with a magnitude of 7.8 degrees, causing damages to five provinces of Equator: Esmeraldas, Manabí, Los Ríos, Santa Elena, Guayas and Santo Domingo de los Shachilas.
